What’s On in the 5 Museums Across Central Otago.

Clyde Museum, Giant Birds of Our Southern Land. Discover New Zealand’s ancient penguin paradise from 62 million years ago, showcasing diverse species with giant, pointed beaks designed to catch fish in South Island waters. A Wild Thyme in Clyde. Explore how this humble herb developed into a significant local industry. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 1PM – 4 PM.

Teviot Museum100 Faces and Places in the Teviot Valley. An exhibition featuring stunning photography by local artist Yvonne O’Hara that highlights people and place in the Teviot. Open Saturday and Sunday, 2 PM – 4 PM, or by appointment. Ph Annette 027 446 8210 or Barbara 027 442 8291.

Central Stories Museum & Art Gallery, Welkam Long Vanuatu. Dive into vibrant contemporary art, traditional crafts, and striking portraits that celebrate Vanuatu’s rich cultural heritage, curated by Katherine Buess. Floral Portraits by Rod Eales. Experience nature’s beauty captured in intimate moments, showcased through pieces that feature up to 15 layers of paint for exceptional depth and luminosity. Open Daily, 10 AM – 4 PM.

Maniototo Early Settlers Museum. Check out the freshly painted Watchmakers Shop and a new addition – Jo Shum’s Hut. Open Wednesday, 1 PM – 4 PM; Thursday to Sunday, 10:30 AM – 4 PM.

Cromwell Museum, located in The Mall, is still open while preparing for its upcoming move to new premises.
