Maniototo Early Settlers Museum — Naseby
Experience high-country pioneering life and the ingenuity of Maniototo’s early settlers.
Housed in the former Naseby Borough Council building, built in 1878, the Maniototo Early Settlers Museum holds one of Central Otago’s significant heritage collections.
Artefacts span farming and domestic tools, sporting and social items, wartime memorabilia, photographs, and family records — each revealing the determination and resourcefulness of high-country settlers.
Across the road, the Jubilee Museum displays vintage vehicles and heritage machinery, while the recreated Watchmaker’s Shop brings 19th-century trade to life with authentic tools, workbenches, and timepieces.
Together, these spaces offer a vivid insight into the pioneering heritage, culture, and ingenuity of the Maniototo region.
